Power Resistors Used as Busbar Shunts

Are you looking for highly flexible low-ohmic busbar shunts for current measurement in high power applications with outstanding long-term stability?

The new Isabellenhütte BAx shunt product line provides the answer. The resistors are much more flexible and efficient in signal transmission than conventional shunts. Multiple connection options to the shunt in particular facilitate precise current measurement.

The shunts are available with resistance values from 5µΩ to 500µΩ, for high power application in e-mobility applications.

MANGANIN® and ZERANIN®, both alloys obtained by Isabellenhütte, form the resistance element, which is electron-beam welded between two copper terminals and characterized by extremely low temperature dependence of the component.

The huge advantage of these alloys is a very low and optimized temperature coefficient of electrical resistance with very high process capability of the R(T) curve, low thermal force between copper and resistance alloys, and extraordinary long-term stability of only <0.5% over 2.000h, unequaled by any other shunt supplier. This provides for very stable measurement during their service life.

BAx shunts are standard passive components, but can be customized in terms of resistance value, physical dimensions and surface coating. MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology is a production process patented by Isabellenhütte that can create custom geometry and allows customers to realize an unlimited range of shapes.

A huge range of flexible connection options allows for measuring current sensing:

  • flex cable
  • printed circuit board (BAC)
  • press-fit pins
  • pressed-in sense pins

Isabellenhütte guarantees precise measurement and permanent transmission of measuring signals throughout the entire life cycle, and thereby also the process reliability of the entire component.
