2012-01-28 The XRP6124: EXAR's Newest NonSynchronous Step Down Controller

 

The XRP6124 is a non synchronous step down (buck) controller for up to 5Amps point of loads. A wide 3V to 30V input voltage range allows for single supply operations from industry standard 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 24V power rails.

With proprietary Constant On-Time (COT) control scheme, the XRP6124 provides extremely fast line and load transient response while the operating frequency remains nearly constant.  It requires low external component count and supports the use of ceramic output capacitors.

2011-12-14 Murata targets automotive markets with launch of chip monolithic ceramic capacitors with metal pins

Murata today announced the KCM series of chip monolithic ceramic capacitors (MLCC) aimed at automotive applications. Equipped with metal pins, the capacitors have been specifically designed to have long-term resilience against substrate expansion and contraction stresses resulting from sharp temperature changes experienced in automotive environments. Also, the KCM/KC3 series offer higher reliability characteristics compared to discrete capacitor elements since they are able to withstand high levels of vibration and mechanical impact associated with such designs.
